Austonian ad in July issue of Texas Monthly

The July issue of Texas Monthly has a beautiful ad running for the new Austonian building in downtown Austin. This is my favorite from the past four months of advertising featuring my photographs. If you get your hands on this month’s issue of Texas Monthly, check it out. I think this ad certainly does the trick. The ad is very eye catching, and I believe the layout complements the image perfectly.

I know, I keep posting about my exterior photographs of the Austonian building. I don’t mean to be repetitive, but when I see the images so well used in ads running in Texas Monthly, I can’t help it. If you happen to pick up the June issue of Texas Monthly, look for the ad and also the other two appearances.

Austin Energy Green Building Annual Report 2009

Austin Energy Green Building uses my Austin skyline images in their 2009 Annual Report. I found this published image particularly interesting, because in the early part of my professional career I worked at a design firm that mainly did annual reports. Now, I’m one of those contributing photographers. Keep building green Austin, even though my house is out of date. I’m working on it.

Keep and eye out for upcoming advertisements in Texas Monthly. I have provided them with many more images, and I imagine they will make great ads.

Here is another round of skyline and building overview photographs for the newly completed Austonian building in downtown Austin. This building is gorgeous and I tried my best to do it justice with these photographs.

I recently had the opportunity to create images of the Austin skyline featuring the newly completed Austonian building. This is an exciting project for me because I really enjoy photographing the skyline. The Austonian is a beautiful building and as the tallest building in Austin, it certainly stands out.

The wind and cold were very distracting, but I think I got a shot or two the Austonian can use. Due to the inclement weather, I only had one day to photograph these. Once the weather clears I will be photographing more angles, perspectives, etc…

I would like to thank Mr. Paul S Meisler of Pioneer Real Estate Services for allowing me to get the perspective, along Congress Avenue, for most of these shots. Thanks also, to the security person at the Austin Convention Center, who approached me after I got the shot I needed and was very nice while escorting me out.

Recently I photographed a series of Fire Stations for Natex Architects in Houston, TX. Fire Station #37 was the priority and the first of the series I have worked on. I spent all day at Fire Station #37, from sunrise until after sunset. It was a pleasure. The Firefighters were a very friendly and hospitable bunch. My challenge was the lack of light for an evening shot required by the architects. They wanted to emulate a architectural rendering done of the building. I had the angle right, but there was a severe lack of light outside and I needed to expose it just right at the right time to get the dramatic sky. There was also glass art in the entrance way that needed to be lit. I positioned lights behind the entrance way to bounce off the wall and make the art glass more pronounced. I used a reflector, three other light units to light the outside and combined some exposures for the outside shots. Here are a few images from this photo shoot.

Salt Lick Advertisement in Dec. '09 Texas Monthly

I was thumbing through the December ‘09 issue of Texas Monthly and found this very appealing ad from the Salt Lick. This is one of my photographs. I took it while photographing their entire menu and a few location images, including their famous Pit. I knew they we’re running the ad in Texas Monthly, but I had forgotten about it at the time and seeing this was a fun surprise.

Thanks to all the talented folks at Corder Marketing for making this look so great. The design / layout is fantastic and really works well with the image. Let’s go meet & eat at the Salt Lick to celebrate!

Recently I have photographed several stadiums for the Architects at Heery International. Photographing the Cotton Bowl on this day is no doubt a big deal. The energy of it all was too much fun. If you have not been to this football game before; imagine one of college football’s biggest rivalries playing at the Cotton Bowl, everyone is wearing red or orange, shouting that the other “sucks”, etc… oh and the State Fair is going on right outside the stadium.

Following the AIA Austin Homes Tour, I had a gander at a catalog of all the AIA homes and was quite impressed. I grabbed an extra copy for my Mom. Foda Studio did a fantastic job with the concept and design behind the booklet. I am very proud to have contributed.
