My friend Monica Cravotta asked me to create this video in support of the efforts of the Sweet Songs Album benefiting the Milk Bank of Austin. This video is a montage of interviews with the artists, musicians, songwriters, producers who put the album together. It helps describe the music, the cause, and a bit of the efforts in developing the album. This is a time-lapse of Pearl Jam performing KLRU’s “Austin City Limits” (ACL) PBS concert series taping on October 3rd, 2009. The episode premieres next Saturday, November 21st.

This was just for fun. I took this time-lapse while the playground at Longview Park with my daughter, followed by Whole Foods, then my soccer team. This time-lapse was taken with a infrared filter on the lens.

Tody Castillo is a singer and songwriter who got his start in Houston, TX, and is today forging his way into the Austin music scene.

Castillo is soon to release his second album. Amongst the collection of great songs is “The shape of my heart”, featured in this video.

The video was shot along the Campbell’s Hole area of the Greenbelt in Austin, TX. Photographer Jonathan Jackson will be producing a series of local Austin musicians.

This is my first attempt at time-lapse. This one was about one hour long, one frame every minute, compiled at 12fps. Inclement weather, a large work load, deadlines, and a moment or two of vacation kept me from mounting another attempt. Next time I plan on trying when the moon is not full.

I was rather anxious prior to this shoot, because food can be difficult to photograph, and I think BBQ even more so. I am very pleased with how they turned out. Here are a few of my favorites.

On top of my normal compensation, I also received the bonus of taking home a large amount of BBQ. Two days later I would take my family to Guatemala, so my assistant got a bit more of the BBQ loot than I did, but I did manage to take some on the trip. It crossed my mind that this may be the first time Salt Lick BBQ has been consumed in Guatemala. Who knows, I like to think so.

What a great time at SXSW this year. I had little idea about many of the bands before hand, and today I have a little more. My opinion of the best new (to me) music was the Avett Brothers, Gil Mantera’s Party Dream, and Phosphorescent. My favorite return band is Elliott Brood. Those guys are awesome and they show it every year. This year they handed out cookie sheets and wooden spoons to the crowd and everyone went nuts banging them. That was certainly a highlight for me. In contrast I would say the low point was being assaulted by some sort of amateur drag queen thing while I was photographing No Age at the Radio Room. It tried to karate chop my lens. Dont worry, the lens and I excaped from the crazy safely.
